Camping in Cambodia has only become possible in 1998 - after the Khmer Rouge integrated their forces into government. Since then, these areas have been cleared of mines as part of rural development and tourist development projects.

DAY 1 - Siem Reap - Phnom Kulen and Beng Mealea (Includes Lunch & Dinner): This morning you’ll meet with your guide to for a tour briefing. We’ll transfer 1 hour to the foot of the Kulen Mountain for our first trek. We’ll make a water stop at the pagoda in the middle of the climb before heading through the jungle to the visit One Thousand Lingas. Then, we’ll visit the Grand Reclining Buddha and enjoy swimming at the 40-meter high waterfall. After the trek, you’ll feel like Indiana Jones as we visit Beng Mealea, a remote Khmer temple. For those who have visited the Angkor complex, you’ll be relieved to escape the crowds of tourists here. After the visit, transfer to Koh Kher. Next we’ll visit a Sayong village before having a basic shower with cold water and dinner of Cambodian barbeque style and rice. Overnight in tent.

DAY 2 - Koh Ker Temple Complex - Siem Reap (Includes Breakfast & Lunch): This morning you’ll enjoy a breakfast of bread, eggs, pancakes and fruit. We walk 6 miles to visit the temples in the Koh Ker complex. Koh Ker was the former capital of the King Jayavarman IV, who reigned around 928 CE, when he moved the capital from Angkor to Koh Ker. The capital in Koh Ker remained for 20 years before it was moved back to the Angkor area and settled at Phnom Bakheng. Temples in the complex include Prasat Thom, Prasat Chen, Prasat Kraham, Prasat Damrei, Prasat Neang Kmau and Rohal. We’ll transfer by van back to Siem Reap.
