HIGHLIGHTS: Angkor Wat - The Terrace of the Leper King - Bayon Temple - Ta Prohm

We’ll visit the most famous of all the temples on the plain of Angkor: Angkor Wat. The temple complex covers 81 hectares and is comparable in size to the Imperial Palace in Beijing. Its distinctive 5 towers are emblazoned on the Cambodian flag and the 12^th-century masterpiece is considered by art historians to be the prime example of classical Khmer art and architecture. Angkor Wat’s five towers symbolize Meru’s five peaks, and the enclosed wall represents the mountains at the edge of the world and the surrounding moat, the ocean beyond.
 

We’ll visit the 12^th-century capital of Angkor Thom and see the South Gate, Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), the Elephants Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and Ta Prohm. We’ll then visit a beautiful jungle temple that has been relatively untouched since it was discovered and retains much of its mystery. We’ll transfer back to the Siem Reap International Airport or to your hotel. This tour includes lunch.

 

Add on: Balloon Ride

Located approximately 500 meters west of Angkor Wat, this balloon offers panoramic views of Angkor, Siem Reap and the Barays. The duration of a balloon ride is approximately 10 minutes with a maximum capacity of 10 people.
