This is a relatively moderate walking trek through traditional Sherpa villages, getting acquainted with the Sherpa people and their traditions and cultures. This trek takes you through popular sites such as Boudhanath, one of the holiest Buddhist sites in Kathmandu; Durbar Squares, UNESCO World Heritage sites: Namche Bazaar, Hotel Everest view in Syangboche, Khumjung Valley, Tengboche Buddhist Monastery, Gorakhshep and Kala Patthar. If you schedule your trek during May, June, October or November, you will also have an opportunity to observe the Dumje and Mani Rimdu festivals at the Monastery.

 

 

ITINERARY

  • DAY 1: Arrival in Kathmandu airport (4413 ft). You’ll be met upon arrival by our Airport Representative and transferred to your hotel. Welcome dinner. Overnight at your hotel.

  • DAY 2: Sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. Your sightseeing trip will start at 9 AM after breakfast. We provide a private vehicle and professional tour guide. Places you’ll visit include Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Kathmandu Durbar Square. The afternoon includes a final briefing and preparations for the trek. Overnight at Hotel.

  • DAY 3: An early morning start takes us to the domestic airport in Kathmandu for the 35-minute scenic flight to Lukla (9200 ft). We begin our trek towards Phakding (8563 ft). Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 4: Phakding - Namche Bazaar (11,290 ft) â€“ 5.5 hours. You will continue trekking along the banks of the Dudh Kosi, crossing this river many times on suspension bridges laden with prayer flags. After entering Sagarmartha National Park, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and BirdLife International area, the trail climbs steeply with breathtaking views. Namche Bazaar, known as the Gateway to Everest, is home to quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchanges, an internet cafe and a bakery. Namche is one of the biggest villages along the Everest trail. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 5: Rest for acclimatization at Namche. You will spend a day here in order to acclimatize to the altitude. You’ll complete a short trek to a museum celebrating the traditional customs of the Sherpa people. You’ll also hike up the Syangboche Airport around the Everest View Hotel. From this point, you can see views of the Himalayas with a stunning sunrise and sunset over the panorama of Khumbu peaks. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 6: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche Monastery (12,665 ft) â€“ 5 hours. The trek continues along the rushing glacial water of the Dudh Kosi with magnificent views of the mountains. Inside the monastery are incredibly ornate wall hangings, a 20-foot sculpture of Buddha, and the musical instruments and robes of the Lamas. The group will be taken to observe a prayer ceremony either in the evening or the next morning. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 7: Tengboche – Dingboche (14,272 ft) 5.3 hours. From Thengboche the trail drops to Debuche, where you’ll cross another suspension bridge on the Imja Khola tributary. The trail then climbs to Pangboche amongst thousands of mani stones. Our uphill trek continues, taking us to the quaint traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche with its exquisite views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and Ama Dablam. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 8: Dengbuche - Lobuche (16,109 ft) 5 hours. The trail continues along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and passes by stone memorials for climbers who have perished on nearby summits. We continue to climb to the altitude of 16,109 ft at Lobuche, which is really just a few huts at the foot of giant Lobuche peak. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 9: Lobuche - Everest Base Camp (17,602 ft) – Gorakshep â€“ 
    7 hours. After an early morning start leaving Lobuche, we head to Everest Base camp where you will have unobstructed views of many mountain giants like Nuptse, Pumori, Chagatse and Lhotse looming directly ahead and on all sides. Then we make our return to Ghorakshep at noon for our overnight stay at the teahouse.

  • DAY 10: Trek to Kala Patthar then trek down to Lobuche â€“ 
    6 hours. After reaching Everest Base Camp, our aim today is to trek Kala Patthar. Starting early the ascent is demanding but rewards with mountain panorama views of Mount Everest and surrounding mountains. We then descend to Lobuche. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 11: Lobuche â€“ Pangboche – 6 hours. We continue to follow the river and, after crossing it, climb back up through birch and rhododendron forest to Pangboche. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 12: Pangboche – Khumjung/Khunde – 7 hours. Leaving the mountains behind us our descent takes us through Tengboche Monastery before heading to Khumjung. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 13: Khumjung to Phakding. A fairly easy walk. We arrive back to Phakding via Namche Bazaar. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 14: Phakding to Lukla – 6 hours. Finally we return to Lukla where the trek began. You’ll have time to explore the town. Overnight at Teahouse.

  • DAY 15: Morning flight back to Kathmandu. 35 minutes Overnight at Hotel.

  • DAY 16: Transfer to airport
