HIGHLIGHTS: Kleifarvatn Lake, Seltun Hot Springs, Viking World, Lighthouse, Bird Cliffs, Bridge between Continents, Blue Lagoon

We’ll pick you up from your hotel between 8:30 and 9 and head to Lake Kleifarvatn and the hot spring area of Seltún, Krýsuvík. From there we follow the lava-covered south shore to the fishing village Grindavik. Here we’ll explore the harbor and learn how Icelanders work at the sea. Our next stop is the lighthouse and the birding cliffs at Reykjanestoe.

We’ll continue to the “Bridge between Two Continents” where you can walk on a footbridge from Europe to America and get the feeling of tectonic plates action. These tectonic plates are the reason for all of the eruptions and the existence of Iceland. Our next stop is the Viking World, the home of Íslendingur, the Viking ship that sailed to America in 2000 to celebrate the anniversary of Leif Erikkson’s (Leifur Eiríksson) expedition a thousand years prior. We will visit the only glassblowing workshop where a mother and son will show us how the glass is prepared and how they use Icelandic nature, like lava from Mt. Hekla and silica from the Blue Lagoon, for their art creations.
